About

We are horse owners who travel a great deal.  Over many years, friends have asked us to service or inspect their horse trailer.  We were often surprised at what we found and how many seemingly good trailers were dangerous and un-roadworthy.   We decided to make trailer servicing more accessible and economical to encourage people to have their trailers inspected and serviced more regularly.  We know you care a great deal about your horse so we want to help you look after them when you are travelling.

We will come to you at your yard, service your trailer on site and provide you with a written report on the work completed and the condition of your trailer.

We carry many spare parts for commonly used trailers and can often obtain more specialist parts within 2 or 3 days.

REGULARLY FOUND HIDDEN PROBLEMS WITH TRAILERS

  • Old tyres with severe cracks (these always have plenty of tread) it is recommended that tyres are replaced every 7 years.
  • Car tyres used instead of trailer tyres.  They might be the same size but just can’t carry the extra load.
  • Brakes rusted, seized or with no friction pads left.  This is un-noticeable until the hubs are removed and can result in the trailer turning over under harsh braking. This fault is often the result of the shoes rusting to the hubs and the trailer being rocked backwards and forwards to release them.  Regular servicing will prevent this.
  • Rotten / damaged floors or ramps.  These are easily replaced and not as expensive as you would think.  The consequences of these failing only need to be thought about.
  • Loose, bent or damaged coupling.  Again, this can cause a serious problem when towing a heavy horse and trailer.

Our 39 point comprehensive inspection and service includes a complete strip down and rebuild of the brake hubs, lubrication of all moving parts, electrical check and inspection of flooring and ramps.  Many service centres charge additional labour for fitting  new parts which should be covered by the service.  Our service charge covers fitting of any new parts to the braking system including shoes and cables.  Other work will only be carried out after discussion with the customer.
