Using your horse trailer for the first time this year?

If you find that your brakes have stuck on and a wheel is locked. DON’T rock the trailer backwards and forwards using your vehicle. This can cause the friction material to detach from the brake shoe and will leave you with ineffective, unbalanced brakes and a repair bill.

Instead- Try tapping the centre of the wheel with a hammer. If this doesn’t work and you feel able – jack up the trailer, remove the wheel and tap the outside of the drum with a hammer. This usually frees the brakes. Drive slowly and apply the brakes several times before loading your horse..

If you are not able or confident to do this give me a ring and I will be happy to come and sort this.

It is a good idea to take your trailer for a short run before loading your horse after a winter lay up to ensure all is working. You could also take up my offer of 10% off if you book a mobile service before the end of April, then you can be sure your trailer is safe to use.
